You will need the following information to process a transcript request:
- registry file number
- name of court file
- exact date(s) of proceedings required
- type of proceeding (eg., bail, trial, sentence, hearing)
- city where proceeding heard
- judge name
If you are missing or are unsure of any of the above information, please contact the registry for assistance before placing your transcript request.
Certified cheques or money orders can be mailed to or dropped off at any JCW office address listed in the website. Please be sure to quote your JCW reference number and your contact information. Sending the payment via "Priority Post" through a post office will usually speed up delivery.
Debit and credit card machines are available at the Nanaimo, Vancouver, and Vernon office locations.
Transcripts ordered on a normal basis are available within 21 business days (approximately one month) of receipt of deposit. Transcripts ordered on an expedited basis are available within 3 business days of receipt of deposit, at an additional charge. Transcripts ordered on a daily basis are available within one business day of receipt of deposit, at an additional charge. Transcripts should be ordered as early as possible in order to meet important appeal deadlines or upcoming court appearances. It is important that you advise of deadlines you must meet when placing your transcript order. CAUTION: Daily or Expedited rates not available for rulings due to judge approval process.
Please advise if the transcript is being ordered for appeal purposes. You may require additional copies for the judge and opposing counsel, which will affect the estimate provided.
